National Film Competition 2011

The Malta Cine Circle invite you to attend in the National Film Competition 2011 at Gemini Hall, Hotel Le Meridien, Ballutaon Thursday, August 4th, starting at 7.30pm. There is going to be screened 14 participating short films, followed by presentation of awards, and afterwards you can gather and network with other members, so bring your family and friends.

Festival Background
This event is of significant importance for the current and prospective members of the Malta Cine Circle. This event goes back to the mid-50's. Hundreds of local productions have been entered in this competition and several have also successful in competitions overseas. These films, ranging from fiction, travelogues, documentaries, animations, and others have provided a unique visual record of the Maltese way of life over these years.

National Film Competition 2011


We again welcome you to the National Film Festival 2011 and the One Minute Film Competition. This year’s festival is now open for entries and we're hoping to encourage involvement from Maltese filmmakers. We were hoping that you might be able to pass on the information about the competition to your filmmakers and contacts. Make the film, submit the film and contribute to the domestic cinema.

The National Film Festival 2011 and the One Minute Film Competition are now open for entries! It's a fantastic opportunity to get your work broadcast to a wider audience and we are keen to see entries from both new and established filmmakers who are driving short film forward.

The winning films receive fantastic prizes including:
-           First Prize
-           Second Prize
-           Third Prize
-           Best Acting
-           Best Use of Sound
-           Best Direction
-           Best Visual Effects
-           Best One Minute

Films should be no longer than 30 minutes; however it is recommend that shorts should not exceed 20 minutes duration. Note that entries should strictly be 60 seconds for the One Minute Film Competition. The entry fee is €15 per film but members can submit their films free of charge. There are no limits to the number of entries permitted.

Editing Software Workshop

An invitation by the Malta Cine Circle for an Editing software workshop by Paul Camilleri from MCAST. The presentation will be about editing software highlighting the world of 3D. The entry fee is free.
